Erie Insurance has filed a personal auto form update in Kentucky to revise its optional Erie Rate Lock Endorsement. The filing was submitted on December 4, 2025, with changes set to take effect for both new and renewal business beginning May 1, 2026.

The update clarifies that changes related to the teenSMART discount are now an explicit exception to Erie’s rate lock feature. Under the revised endorsement, a locked premium may be adjusted if a policyholder gains or loses eligibility for the teenSMART discount, which is tied to participation in a teenage driver safety program.

teenSMART is typically delivered as a software-based driver education and behavior program aimed at improving teen driving outcomes. By adding the discount as a specified adjustment trigger, Erie is tightening the alignment between its rate lock mechanics and technology-enabled driver risk programs.
