Erie Insurance Exchange is relaxing appraisal requirements for fine art insured through its ErieSecure homeowners products in Virginia.
Beginning with renewals effective November 1, 2026, an appraisal by a qualified expert will be required for individual fine art items valued above $25,000, up from $10,000. Erie will also consider appraisals current if they are less than 15 years old, compared with seven years previously.
The filing applies to ErieSecure Home, Condo and Tenant policies, which are closed to new business. Erie also clarified that primary condos must be used for residential purposes, except for eligible incidental business or home-business exposures.
There is no associated rate change.
