Erie Insurance filed for a 10% rate increase for its Virginia farmowners business, effective October 1, 2026. The insurer said the filing reflects changes to base rates for its ErieSecure Exchange farmowners program.
The proposed increase would affect approximately 34,695 policyholders and generate an estimated $6.5 million in additional written premium on a book of business totaling about $65 million in annual premium. The filing carries an 11% indicated rate need, with Erie proposing a capped 10% overall increase.
The filing follows a 14.7% rate increase that took effect in October 2024. Erie said the revised rates will apply to all renewal policies effective on and after October 1, 2026.
