Metromile filed updates to its Oregon personal auto program, including the introduction of a new endorsement covering residential electric vehicle wall chargers.
The filing, submitted on July 2, would take effect for new business on September 1, 2026, and renewals on October 1, 2026. It also updates the policy declaration, application for insurance, and mileage-based billing endorsement. An associated rate filing will be submitted separately.
The new Wall Charger Coverage endorsement provides up to $3,000 for loss or damage to an insured’s home EV charger installed at the vehicle’s principal garaging address, provided the covered vehicle carries comprehensive coverage. The coverage applies without a deductible and is excess over any other applicable insurance.
The revised mileage-based billing endorsement also reflects Metromile’s autonomous driving pricing model, introducing separate per-mile charges for manually driven and autonomously driven miles. Mileage will continue to be tracked through authorized telematics devices, mobile applications, or other approved methods, with daily mileage capped at 250 manual miles and 250 total miles per vehicle.
