Foremost to Recalculate Montana Renters Insurance Scores Every Three Terms

Foremost Insurance will change how often it recalculates insurance scores for its Montana tenant insurance program.

Beginning November 1, 2026, Foremost will calculate an insurance score at new business and automatically recalculate it every three policy terms, rather than at each renewal. The company says the change applies to both new and renewal policies.

Policyholders may still ask for a recalculation at an intervening renewal. If they do, Foremost will begin a new three-term automatic recalculation cycle from that renewal.

The insurer will also continue to permit score adjustments when an extraordinary life event adversely affects a customer’s score, including catastrophic illness or injury, the death of a spouse, child, or parent, temporary unemployment, divorce, identity theft, or overseas military deployment.

The rule update does not include a rate change. Foremost also clarified its method for calculating pro rata cancellation factors. Foremost is part of the Farmers Insurance Group.
