Foremost Insurance Company submitted a rate filing in California on March 3, 2026, seeking a significant increase for its Antique and Classic Auto Program. The filing requests an overall rate impact of +50%, with actuarial indications suggesting a +69.8% increase may be needed based on underlying experience.
The program currently covers 8,086 policyholders and generates approximately $3.1 million in written premium, with the proposed change expected to add about $1.56 million in premium if approved.
The filing replaces several rate pages and introduces updated premium tables for liability, medical payments, and physical damage coverages for antique and classic vehicles. The insurer also updated rating factors such as territorial multipliers and agreed value pricing structures used to calculate collision and comprehensive premiums based on the insured value of vehicles.
Foremost’s antique and classic auto program is designed for vehicles that are at least 25 years old or of limited production and primarily used for exhibitions, club activities, and parades rather than daily transportation.
If approved, the revised rates would take effect July 1, 2026 for new business and September 1, 2026 for renewals.
