Foremost Loosens Motorcycle Underwriting Rules in Oregon

Foremost is updating its motorcycle program in Oregon, introducing changes to underwriting rules and eligibility as part of a broader guideline refresh.

The filing, submitted April 16, 2026, targets a July 1, 2026 effective date for both new and renewal business. It does not include any rate changes and focuses solely on rules and underwriting.

At the center of the update is the removal of a prior restriction that blocked certain higher-risk riders from new business. Specifically, Foremost is eliminating a rule that made applicants ineligible if they had an insurance score below 475 combined with ownership of high-performance or performance-class motorcycles.

Beyond that change, the company is introducing updated underwriting guidelines under a new edition, replacing its prior 2023 version with a 2026 update. Details of the revised guidelines were not disclosed publicly, as the company marked them as proprietary.
