USLI Expands Liquor Liability Offering In Maryland

USLI, part of the Berkshire Hathaway group, filed updates to its Liquor Liability program in Maryland to expand eligibility and introduce new pricing credits. The changes were submitted February 25, 2026, with an effective date of May 4, 2026, for new business and August 2, 2026, for renewals.

The filing impacts 369 policyholders representing $855,004 in written premium.

USLI is adding Off-Premises Caterers and Bartending Services to Category II to align the Maryland product with its broader countrywide offering.

The company is also introducing a 15% Preferred Restaurant Credit and a 5% credit for establishments that use electronic ID scanners.

The program covers bars, taverns, restaurants, and social clubs. Rate support references ISO severity and frequency trends.

USLI, domiciled in Nebraska, is targeting a 9.3% after-tax return on equity; the program previously saw rate increases of 8.01% in November 2022 and 8.47% in May 2022.
