MGT Seeks 17.3% Rhode Island BOP Increase – Affecting 5 Policyholders

MGT Insurance introduced updates to its Mainstreet Businessowners program in Rhode Island, with a proposed effective date of September 1, 2026, for new and renewal business. The filing carries an overall rate impact of 17.3%, affecting five policyholders and approximately $12,127 in written premium.

The update adds several new endorsements, including psychotropic and synthetic drug property and liability exclusions, a blanket additional insured endorsement, anti stacking and non cumulation of liability provisions, a delivery operations exclusion, and optional business income restoration periods of up to 24 months.

The filing also introduces new rating variables, including an age of business factor, liability relativity factors, class modification factors, and surcharges for exposures such as gas pumps, car washes, propane filling stations, and vacant land. A full pay discount of 5% was added for policyholders who pay annual premiums in full at policy inception or renewal.

Other changes include revised payment plan rules, updated liability limit factors, new minimum earned premium requirements for contractor classes, and adjustments to professional liability rates for beauty salons and barber shops.
