MGT Insurance has filed updates to its Mainstreet Businessowners Program in Maryland, with a requested effective date of September 1, 2026, for both new and renewal business. The filing was submitted on June 4 and is described as rate-neutral.
Among the changes, MGT is introducing a 5% full-pay discount for policyholders who pay their annual premium in full by the policy effective date. The discount applies to building, business personal property, general liability, and medical expense coverages. Policyholders who choose quarterly or monthly payment plans will not receive the discount.
The filing also adds a new age-of-business factor, providing lower factors for more established businesses and higher factors for newer operations. Businesses operating for less than one year receive a factor of 1.05, while businesses with more than six years of operating history receive a factor of 0.95.
Other updates include new non-cumulation and anti-stacking endorsements, revised liability rating tables, a $100 minimum general liability premium, additional charges for exposures such as gas pumps, car washes, propane filling stations, and vacant land, and new optional endorsements addressing psychotropic and synthetic drug-related property and liability exposures.
The filing further introduces a blanket additional insured endorsement that carries a flat $100 charge per additional insured and updates professional liability rating provisions for barber shops, beauty salons, and hair salons.
