MGT Insurance submitted a filing in Washington introducing its Farmowners Program, a commercial farm and ranch insurance product. The filing was submitted on March 4, 2026 and is currently under regulatory review, with an effective date requested for April 5, 2026.
The program includes a full set of property, liability, and umbrella coverage forms designed for farm operations. Coverage components include farm liability, farm property, inland marine coverage for farm equipment, livestock coverage, and umbrella and excess liability policies.
The filing introduces dozens of endorsements addressing farm specific exposures. These include liability coverage extensions for chemical drift, transportation of farm chemicals and fertilizers, and contingent liability for crop dusting operations. Additional endorsements provide coverage for irrigation equipment, livestock suffocation, farm equipment breakdown, stock tank leakage, and farm disruption income.
The program also incorporates a range of exclusions and limitations common in modern farm policies. These include exclusions for marijuana operations, PFAS contamination, biometric privacy claims, and tobacco related liability, along with limitations on windstorm or hail coverage for roof surfaces.
Several endorsements address emerging or nontraditional exposures in agriculture. The program includes limited coverage for unmanned aircraft used in farming operations such as aerial imaging and mapping, as well as identity theft administrative services and expense coverage for insureds affected by identity theft incidents.
The filing also introduces endorsements allowing additional insured status for various farm related relationships, including land lessors, equipment lessors, farm operators, financial partners, and nonresident co owners involved in farm operations.
If approved, the filing would allow MGT to offer a comprehensive farmowners policy designed to address the property, liability, and operational risks faced by modern agricultural businesses in Washington.
