Lemonade Seeks 10% Homeowners Rate Increase in Georgia

Lemonade filed for a 9.9% overall rate increase on its homeowners insurance business in Georgia, affecting approximately 2,939 policyholders and generating an estimated $624,001 in additional written premium.

The filing, submitted on June 3, 2026, applies only to renewal business and requests rate level changes of 9.9% for HO-3 homeowners policies, 10% for HO-6 condominium policies, and no change for HO-4 renters policies. The proposed changes would take effect on September 15, 2026, if approved.

According to the filing, Lemonade’s indicated need is significantly higher, at 45.6%, but the company is seeking a more modest 9.9% increase. The filing follows a prior Georgia homeowners rate revision that took effect in September 2025.

Lemonade reported approximately $6.3 million in written premium for the affected business. The filing replaces existing rate tables and includes updates to territory-specific loss cost multiplication factors used in the company’s homeowners and condominium programs.

The filing also offers a glimpse into the composition of Lemonade’s Georgia homeowners business. A comparable filing submitted a year earlier covered homeowners (HO-3), renters (HO-4), and condominium (HO-6) policies and affected 22,669 policyholders with approximately $13.1 million in written premium. By contrast, the current filing covers only homeowners and condominium policies, affecting 2,939 policyholders and approximately $6.3 million in premium. The comparison suggests that renters policies account for a substantial share of Lemonade’s Georgia policy count while contributing a smaller share of premium relative to homeowners and condominium business.
