Midvale Indemnity Company, a subsidiary of American Family, has filed revisions to its Georgia private passenger auto insurance program that would reduce rates by 5% overall and introduce a new usage-based insurance offering called DriveMyWay. The changes are scheduled to take effect on October 1, 2026, for new business and October 16, 2026, for renewal business.
The filing affects approximately 1,913 policyholders and is expected to reduce written premium by about $306,000 on a book representing nearly $5.9 million in premium. While the company’s actuarial indication supports a 2.8% decrease, Midvale is proposing a larger 5% overall reduction. Most policyholders would see decreases between 5% and 6%, with no policies projected to receive an increase.
As part of the filing, Midvale is introducing DriveMyWay, an optional mobile-based telematics program that uses driving behavior to determine premiums. The program adds three new rating components: a DriveMyWay Introductory Factor, a Participation Factor, and a Program Factor based on driving scores. Drivers who enroll and participate can qualify for discounts, while driving behavior scores may result in either discounts or surcharges over time.
DriveMyWay will have no immediate impact on renewal customers and is being introduced as a new optional program.
The filing is being submitted as a “me-too” filing based on a previously approved American Family Insurance Company program.
