Progressive Opens Connecticut Condo Program to Non-Auto Customers

Progressive-owned ASI filed updated underwriting guidelines for its Connecticut HO6 condominium program that remove the requirement for applicants to carry a Progressive auto policy in order to qualify for coverage.

The filing was submitted on May 8 with a requested effective date of May 27, 2026, and applies to condominium homeowners business in Connecticut.

With this filing, we are removing the requirement to bundle the homeowners condominium policy with a Progressive auto policy for eligibility,” the company stated in its filing memorandum.

The updated guidelines also outline a range of eligibility restrictions for condo risks. Units older than 100 years are ineligible, as are units with knob-and-tube wiring, aluminum wiring, Federal Pacific breaker boxes, polybutylene plumbing, or galvanized plumbing systems.

The filing also requires flood insurance for condo units located on the first or second floor in FEMA Special Flood Hazard Areas and limits water damage coverage to $10,000 for certain older units unless major systems have been updated within the past 10 years.

Other restrictions include limitations on short-term rentals, prior claims activity, and certain dog breeds deemed ineligible by underwriting.
