Branch Insurance Exchange submitted updated Texas personal auto underwriting guidelines aimed at expanding its eligible driver pool and growing its auto book.
The filing relaxes driving history rules for certain insurance score groups, allowing more prior incidents while keeping limits on at fault accidents. Branch said the changes are intended to help agents sell more policies and grow the carrier’s Texas auto business, which currently has 496 policies in force.
The updated guidelines also outline a broad list of ineligible vehicles and drivers. Vehicles such as Cybertruck and Plaid editions, Rivian, Lucid, Polestar, Ferrari, Lamborghini, and Rolls Royce models remain ineligible, alongside vehicles used for delivery, racing, snow plowing, or commercial purposes. Drivers with recent DUIs, reckless driving convictions, license suspensions, or certain felony auto offenses are also excluded.
Bottom Line: Branch is modestly loosening underwriting standards in Texas as it looks to expand a still small auto book.
