Midwest Family Mutual is introducing two new Businessowners Policy programs in Michigan, targeting churches and commercially owned vacation rentals, effective July 1, 2026.
The May 4, 2026 filing adds rates and underwriting rules for Churches or Other Houses of Worship and Vacation Rentals, Commercially Owned (VRCO) as part of its commercial BOP expansion. The changes apply to new business only and do not impact existing policyholders.
For churches, the carrier is defining eligibility around established organizations with stable governance, typically operating for at least three years, with attendance under 1,500 and no prior abuse allegations. The program includes dedicated rate pages, updated underwriting guidelines, and optional coverages, including a “Family Faith Advantage” endorsement priced at $500 per location.
The VRCO program targets commercially owned short-term rentals, adding a new class code and integrating the segment into the BOP eligibility list. It does not introduce new rate indications, instead relying on existing filed rates for similar lodging risks, with territory-based pricing.
