Lemonade is preparing to launch its renters insurance program in North Carolina, according to a form filing submitted under SERFF Tracking Number LEMO-134424138.

The program introduces a mix of adopted forms from the North Carolina Rate Bureau and new proprietary documents developed by Lemonade.

The proposed offering includes standard HO-4 coverages, such as personal property, liability, loss of use, and medical payments. Optional coverages include water backup, personal injury, and earthquake protection. Policy pricing factors in local fire alarms and deductibles, with a base premium example of $215 annually for $35,000 in personal property coverage.

Lemonade’s underwriting process also requires disclosures on pet ownership, home-sharing, and prior insurance history.

The effective date for new and renewal policies is set for June 1, 2025.
