Lemonade Car Clears Pennsylvania After a Full Year

Metromile Insurance Company, owned by Lemonade, received approval for a new Pennsylvania private passenger auto program on October 13, 2026—exactly one year after submitting the filing.

The program builds on Lemonade’s Indiana filing and Progressive Direct’s Pennsylvania program. Limits, deductibles, and most non-territory rating factors were drawn from Progressive, while base rates were benchmarked against competitors including Progressive, GEICO, and Allstate. Pricing also incorporates Lemonade’s own telematics Driving Score.

“The program has been designed to attract responsible, tech-savvy insureds that are interested in the possibilities of telematics, Lemonade’s business model, and its other products,” the filing states.

The filing covers a new program with no in-force book and reports no written premium. Approval clears a regulatory step for Lemonade Car’s expansion into Pennsylvania; the filing does not establish a launch date.
