GEICO submitted a commercial auto form filing in Virginia that introduces several new endorsements aimed at trucking operations and related liability exposures. The filing was submitted on March 11, 2026, and applies to the insurers’ Commercial Casualty Forms Manual for their business auto program.
The filing introduces new coverage endorsements including motor truck cargo coverage, refrigeration breakdown coverage for temperature sensitive cargo, and a commercial general liability endorsement tied to trucking operations. The cargo endorsement covers direct physical loss to transported goods while in transit, loading, or unloading, subject to limits, deductibles, and exclusions, while the refrigeration breakdown endorsement extends protection to cargo spoilage caused by sudden failure of refrigeration or heating units.
GEICO is also adding several contractual risk transfer endorsements commonly required in transportation agreements. These include new additional insured endorsements and waiver of subrogation endorsements, including blanket versions that automatically apply when required by written contract. The additional insured endorsements include primary and noncontributory language referencing commercial general liability coverage.
In addition, the filing introduces a motor truck cargo loss payee endorsement allowing cargo owners or lenders to receive claim payments to the extent of their financial interest in the cargo.
GEICO indicated that the changes expand coverage options for their trucking business segment and update the policy form suite to support the new endorsements.
If approved, the new forms will apply to new business policies beginning May 14, 2026, and to renewal policies starting July 13, 2026.
