GEICO is seeking to increase personal auto rates in Connecticut by approximately 5%, according to a new filing.
The proposal covers 115,195 policyholders and nearly $296 million in written premium across GEICO Choice Insurance Company and GEICO Secure Insurance Company. It would generate about $14.8 million in additional premium.
GEICO Choice is seeking a 5.1% increase affecting 13,600 policyholders, while GEICO Secure is requesting a 5% increase affecting 101,595 policyholders. Individual policy changes would range from decreases of approximately 11.7% to increases of as much as 28.7%.
The insurers indicated that increases of 47.7% and 29.3%, respectively, were actuarially justified.
GEICO previously implemented a 5.8% rate increase in January 2026. The latest changes are targeted to take effect on August 20, 2026, for new business and October 4, 2026, for renewals.
