American Pet Insurance Company, a Trupanion subsidiary, has filed rate increases for its Trupanion for Chewy Health pet insurance program in four states.

The proposed increases are 27.4% in Tennessee, 20.4% in Georgia, and 18.9% in Idaho, while a 10% increase has already been filed in Nebraska. The changes would affect 1,928 policyholders and add approximately $225,000 in annual premium across a $1 million book of business.

The Tennessee filing has the largest impact, affecting 575 policyholders and generating an additional $81,162 in premium. Individual increases range as high as 78.2%, with 331 policyholders facing increases above 25%. The company said customers can mitigate the impact by increasing their deductible or canceling optional coverage.

The Idaho, Tennessee, and Nebraska changes are scheduled for November 1, 2026, while the Georgia increase is scheduled for February 1, 2027. The filings revise base rates and several rating factors, including geography, breed, age at enrollment, and gender.
