American Pet Insurance Company, which underwrites Trupanion pet insurance, has filed for a 25% rate increase in Florida, effective February 24, 2027, for new and renewing policies. The filing reports 42,402 policies in force and $50.4 million in earned premium for the latest calendar or accident year.

The insurer’s filing shows a 36.1% indicated rate increase and an 83.8% incurred loss ratio. The request follows a 25% increase effective February 2026 and a further 6% increase effective September 2026.

The filing does not propose a change in coverage levels.
