CSAA Updates Maryland Homeowners Add-Ons Pricing

CSAA is updating its homeowners program in Maryland, focusing on higher pricing for optional coverages rather than base rates.

The filing introduces increases to two add-ons. Buried utility line coverage will rise from $45 to $59, while equipment breakdown jumps more sharply from $29 to $83. The changes apply to new and renewal business starting August 9, 2026.

Both coverages remain optional and target specific risks. Buried utility line coverage protects against damage to underground service lines, including excavation costs, with a $10,000 limit. Equipment breakdown covers mechanical and electrical failures for household systems, with a $100,000 limit.

The move reflects a targeted repricing approach. Instead of broad rate increases, CSAA is adjusting pricing on endorsements that carry more volatility or rising repair costs, particularly equipment-related claims.

Policy impact appears limited. Around 7,545 policyholders fall within a 0% to 10% premium change range, suggesting incremental increases tied mainly to coverage selection rather than across-the-board hikes.
