The Hartford Expands Group Benefits With New Emotional Support Offerings

The Hartford Life and Accident Insurance Company filed new advertising materials in Arizona for its Healthcare Pro Handbook, promoting critical illness, disability, and supplemental health coverage designed for healthcare employers. The filing highlights the company’s growing emphasis on value-added services that extend beyond traditional insurance, including mental-wellness and bereavement support.

Among these offerings is access to Marvin Behavioral Health, a mental-health platform providing confidential therapy for healthcare professionals, and Empathy, a bereavement support benefit available to employees and beneficiaries at no additional charge when included in group life or disability policies.

According to The Hartford’s 2024 internal data, more than 6,000 healthcare customers nationwide—spanning physician offices, hospitals, and home-health providers—receive coverage under the company’s ProtectPro package. The inclusion of Empathy and Marvin marks a continued trend among group life and disability carriers to integrate emotional-wellness and administrative support into core benefit programs, aligning with the industry’s shift toward holistic care and employee retention.
