Spinnaker Expands Equine Program

Spinnaker Insurance Company, working with third-party filer Sproutr LLC, is expanding into the farm and equine insurance market with a series of new program filings across multiple states. In Connecticut, a filing dated September 16, 2025, introduced the Farm and Equine Program through a package of form approvals, while rate and rule details were submitted under a separate tracking number. A similar program was filed in Idaho, effective September 15, 2025, for new business, with another filing also made in Alabama.

The program adopts American Association of Insurance Services (AAIS) forms and rules across Agricultural General Liability, Agricultural Excess Liability, Farm Inland Marine, and Farmowners, with company-specific exceptions. Proprietary forms unique to Spinnaker’s filings include Equine Professional Liability, Owned Recreational Vehicles, and an exclusion for perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS). In Idaho, the filing also established multi-policy discounts, minimum premium requirements, loss cost multipliers, and premium rounding provisions. Spinnaker allows additional premium charges from policy changes to be waived up to $15.

The filings include notices to policyholders regarding minimum earned premium, while forms associated with the Connecticut and Idaho submissions were filed separately under tracking numbers WOOD-134636612 and WOOD-134635011, respectively. While no premium data or policyholder counts were disclosed, the filings highlight Spinnaker’s effort to carve out a presence in the agricultural and equine insurance segment by blending AAIS standards with tailored coverage and exclusions.
