Philadelphia Contributionship Insurance Company and Germantown Insurance Company have filed a forms update in New Jersey aimed at tightening underwriting standards for high-value homes. The filing was submitted on January 12, 2026, with proposed effective dates of April 25, 2026, for new business and June 9, 2026, for renewals.
The submission introduces a new underwriting question requiring confirmation that an active water leak detection system with an automatic shutoff device is installed in order to qualify for coverage. The change is targeted at higher-value risks and is intended to reduce water loss exposure rather than adjust pricing.
The filing also adds a new Windstorm or Hail Deductible form and updates the homeowners application. The deductible form, based on an ISO template, will be used for both percentage-based and flat dollar wind deductibles. While the filing does not disclose policyholder counts or premium figures, it is positioned as a companion to a separate rate and rule filing.
The companies also disclosed that physical property inspections will be conducted by independent third-party contractors.
