Nationwide has filed a form update in California revising its optional Roadside Assistance Coverage endorsement for private passenger auto policies, tightening eligibility and usage parameters without changing rates.
The filing was submitted on January 15, 2026, and seeks an effective date of April 13, 2026, for new business, with renewals to follow on approval. Nationwide is replacing its existing roadside assistance endorsement with a revised version to clarify when coverage applies and to impose explicit service limits.
Under the updated form, roadside assistance will apply only when the insured vehicle listed in the policy declarations becomes disabled, removing coverage for vehicles the policyholder may be occupying but does not insure. The endorsement also limits coverage to no more than four disablements per vehicle within a 12-month period.
Coverage remains optional and carries no deductible.
