Nationwide Seeks Georgia BOP Rate Increase and Adds Drone Coverage Option for 2027

Nationwide has filed for changes to its Businessowners Policy (BOP) program in Georgia that would increase rates and introduce new coverage options, including coverage for designated unmanned aircraft. The filing, submitted on June 3, 2026, applies to policies written by Nationwide Affinity Insurance Company of America, Nationwide Assurance Company, Nationwide General Insurance Company, and Nationwide Insurance Company of Florida, with a proposed effective date of February 1, 2027, for new and renewal business.

The filing carries an overall indicated rate change of 11.4%. The proposed rate impacts vary by insurer, ranging from 5.7% for Nationwide General Insurance Company to 13.4% for Nationwide Assurance Company. Nationwide estimates the changes would affect 3,076 policyholders across the four companies and generate approximately $1.19 million in additional written premium.

According to the filing, Nationwide is revising optional coverage rules and updating base rates across multiple business classes, including auto service, food service, habitational, office, retail, service, and wholesale risks. The company is also adopting new Business Income and Extra Expense coverage limits and adding Limited Coverage for Designated Unmanned Aircraft, which provides liability coverage for specified drones and designated operations or projects. Policies may also include an optional Unmanned Aircraft Liability Aggregate Limit.

The filing follows a previous Georgia BOP rate revision that took effect on February 1, 2026, and produced an overall rate increase of 14.6%.
