Nationwide is introducing a value-added product tied to its workers’ compensation offering in New Mexico.
The filing includes a wearable safety device provided through Kinetic Insurance that is worn on an employee’s waist, tracks ergonomic movement, vibrates when high risk postures are detected, and shares data with employers to support training and injury prevention.
Kinetic was founded in 2014 and has grown to around 100 employees. The company is known for its Reflex wearable, a belt-mounted device that detects risky motions such as unsafe postures, slips, falls, and vehicle jumps, and provides real-time feedback to workers. It has raised about $19.4 million to date and, in 2021, partnered with Nationwide to launch Kinetic Insurance, a workers’ comp program manager backed by Nationwide’s specialty division.
The offering is positioned as a loss control tool rather than a pricing lever. There is no cost to policyholders, and the filing explicitly states that the device is not factored into insurance rates.
Availability is broad—offered to all workers’ compensation customers at policy binding—and is designed to reduce injury frequency, lower claims costs, and improve workplace safety outcomes.
