Nationwide Enhances Homeowners Coverage

Nationwide has filed a series of new and revised homeowners endorsements in Maryland as part of a broader effort to expand coverage options under an enhanced property insurance offering. The filing is targeted to take effect on January 4, 2027 for new business and March 25, 2027 for renewals.

The filing introduces several new endorsements, including Dwelling Guaranteed Replacement Cost Plus, Protection Boost Ultra, and Valuables Plus Blanket Personal Property Ultra, while updating existing endorsements covering scheduled valuables, blanket valuables, and special personal property.

Among the proposed enhancements:

  • Guaranteed Replacement Cost Plus would provide replacement cost coverage for insured dwellings above the Coverage A limit, subject to underwriting requirements, waive deductibles for certain covered losses exceeding $100,000, and eliminate the need for a written inventory after a total fire loss at an owner-occupied residence.
  • Protection Boost Ultra increases several personal property sublimits, including up to $10,000 for theft of jewelry, $10,000 for firearms, $15,000 for silverware, $5,000 for cameras, $25,000 for covered motor vehicles, and $2,500 for trading cards and comic books. It also adds broader debris removal and landscaping coverage.
  • Valuables Plus Blanket Personal Property Ultra adds blanket coverage for collectibles and memorabilia, wine, fine art, jewelry, musical instruments, firearms, cameras, and other high-value items, with worldwide coverage for most categories and per-item limits ranging from $10,000 to $25,000.

According to the filing memorandum, the endorsements are intended to support “an enhanced property offering through enhanced coverage, higher limits, and related product changes.”
