Lemonade has filed a combined form and rate update for its pet insurance program in Michigan, seeking an overall rate increase of 12.2%. The filing was submitted on January 21, 2026, and requests effective dates of February 18, 2026, for new business and March 20, 2026, for renewals.
The proposed change would impact 9,899 policyholders and is expected to increase written premium by approximately $646,000, bringing total program premium in the state to about $5.3 million. Lemonade’s actuarial support indicates an overall indicated increase of 26.2%, with the company selecting a lower implemented change.
In addition to rates, the filing updates Lemonade’s Michigan pet insurance policy forms, including a revised base policy and a state specific notice. The updated policy continues to offer optional coverages such as preventive care, behavioral treatment, dental illness, physical therapy, and end of life services, while maintaining exclusions for pre existing conditions, routine wellness care, and elective procedures.
Lemonade also replaced its Michigan pet insurance manual and rating order of calculations. The updated manual reflects a revised annual base rate and updated ZIP code modifiers, adjusting pricing by geography across the state.
