Homesite filed revisions to its renters insurance program in Kansas.
The filing adds definitions for digital communication and hazing, along with exclusions for existing damage and losses related to illegal drugs, plants or substances. It also expands liability exclusions involving digital harassment, sexual content, hazing, punitive damages and certain criminal conduct.
Other changes clarify the appraisal process, limit pair-or-set settlements to personal property coverage and require Homesite to pay the undisputed portion of a covered loss while a payment disagreement is resolved. Coverage for first aid expenses would be removed.
In response to Kansas Senate Bill 55, Homesite is also adding language that generally prohibits the assignment of insurance proceeds, subject to certain exceptions.
The changes are proposed to take effect on October 9, 2026, for new business and November 26, 2026, for renewals.
