Comprehensive Auto Resources Company (CARco), an administrator domiciled in Pennsylvania, has filed a new vehicle service contract form in Georgia introducing a bundled product that combines roadside assistance and key protection coverage.
The product is positioned as a dealer-sold add on that must be purchased at the time of vehicle sale, with dealers responsible for registering the agreement with the obligor. The contract is explicitly voluntary and is stated not to be insurance.
The bundle includes Emergency Roadside Assistance and Key Replacement coverage designed for modern vehicle keys, including smart keys, key fobs, transponder keys, remote keys, and switchblade keys. Replacement keys must be OEM or refurbished OEM equivalents, reflecting the increasing cost and complexity of newer vehicle access systems.
Obligations under the agreement are backed by a service contract reimbursement insurance policy issued by Wesco Insurance Company, part of AmTrust. Roadside assistance services are provided by Nation Motor Club, LLC, which operates in many states under the Nation Safe Drivers brand. In Florida, administration and obligor responsibilities differ, with Northcoast Warranty Services, Inc. listed instead.
From a coverage standpoint, total liability under the agreement is capped at the lesser of $4,000 or the retail value of the covered vehicle, as determined by J.D. Power or a comparable regional guide. Key replacement benefits are limited to $800 per agreement year and restricted to one replacement per occurrence.
The filing also includes standard contract features common to service contracts, including a 30 day free look period and a $50 cancellation fee thereafter. The Key Replacement Program is also excluded from sale in California.
