Assurant subsidiary Standard Guaranty Insurance Company is withdrawing its First Select Dwelling Fire program from Maryland.
Beginning August 10, 2026, the insurer will stop writing new business and offering renewals under the program. Standard Guaranty said the withdrawal is a business decision and is not based on the records of individual policyholders.
The program covers owner- and tenant-occupied dwellings with one to four units, including primary, seasonal and secondary residences. It is written using an ISO dwelling property form.
The withdrawal affects 23 policies representing $57,878 in total premium. Standard Guaranty reported that the largest concentration is in ZIP code 21207, where three policies account for $7,813 in premium.
There are no rate changes associated with the filing, which was submitted to Maryland regulators on July 16, 2026.
