Assurant Refreshes Total Wireless Device Protection Push

Assurant has filed updated marketing and training materials in Maryland for its Communication Device Protector program, tied to Total Wireless device protection plans.

The materials outline two plan options: a higher-tier Protect+ offering that includes loss and theft coverage alongside digital protection services, and a lower-cost Protect plan focused on accidental damage and post-warranty mechanical or electrical failure. Monthly pricing remains at roughly $8 and $5, respectively.

Coverage continues to emphasize fast replacement and repair, including next-business-day device delivery where available. Deductibles range from $29 to $349 depending on device tier and claim type, with unlimited claims for mechanical or electrical failure and capped claims for other incidents.

The update also reinforces compliance standards across retail channels, including required disclosures, clear communication that coverage is optional, and reminders that the product may overlap with existing insurance such as homeowners or renters policies.

Overall, the filing reflects a push to sharpen how device protection is sold and explained at the point of sale, as carriers and program administrators continue to compete on embedded protection and service experience.
