AmTrust to Add Total Cyber Exclusion to BOP in New Jersey

AmTrust has filed to revise its Businessowners (BOP) product in New Jersey to address growing exposures from cyber threats like malware, ransomware, and denial-of-service attacks. The filing introduces a new Total Cyber Incident Exclusion endorsement (BP920001), effective December 1, 2025.

The exclusion removes coverage for losses stemming from cyber incidents, including malicious access and data encryption attacks, which AmTrust says were not contemplated in traditional package policies. Exceptions are made for fire or explosion resulting from a cyber incident, as well as where specific cyber-related endorsements like Computer Fraud or E-Commerce are present.

The change is accompanied by updated rating rules (BP-1058-CW) that apply a 0.995 rating factor to Building and Business Personal Property premiums. It replaces prior language in BP-1042-CW and is part of a broader move to shift cyber coverage to standalone policies.
