Wesco Insurance, part of AmTrust Financial, submitted a filing in New Mexico to introduce a new Tenant Property Protection Program offering renters coverage for personal property and liability. The filing has an effective date of on approval.
According to the filing, the program is based on American Modern’s existing renters product and will only offer a renters package policy, removing the standalone renters liability only option. The program will provide tenant homeowners coverage using ISO’s standard Contents Broad Form policy.
Coverage includes personal property, personal liability, medical payments, additional living expenses, and optional endorsements such as identity recovery, water backup, pet damage, bed bug remediation, jewelry theft sub-limits, and involuntary unemployment insurance.
The filing also outlines eligibility requirements for apartment communities, including professional management standards and security measures in some urban areas. Premiums vary based on coverage limits, deductibles, and optional coverages, with personal property rates ranging from $168 for $5,000 in coverage to $360 for $50,000 in coverage.
