AmTrust introduced new optional coverage endorsements for veterinarians and pet care businesses in Virginia as part of their Businessowners program. The filing also adds a professional liability endorsement for florists.
The filing, submitted on May 21, 2026 with a requested effective date of September 1, 2026, includes new proprietary forms for Animal Bailee Coverage and Kennel Cough Coverage.
The Animal Bailee endorsement covers direct physical loss or damage to domestic animals while in the insured’s care, custody, or control, including during transportation and temporary relocation due to a covered event. Coverage can also include uncollectible service charges, veterinary care costs, and reward or advertising expenses for lost or stolen animals.
Available Animal Bailee limits range from $10,000 to $100,000 with a $2,500 per animal limit and a $250 deductible. Premiums are determined per $1,000 of coverage and vary by industry segment and number of locations.
The Kennel Cough endorsement provides coverage for cleaning and disinfecting expenses, veterinarian costs, business income loss during operational suspension, and additional advertising expenses to restore reputation following a kennel cough incident. Coverage applies only if the first reported case occurs during the policy period and is diagnosed by a licensed veterinarian.
Kennel Cough coverage options range from $5,000 to $100,000 per occurrence, with premiums between $63 and $406 per location depending on selected limits.
The filing also introduces Florists Errors or Omissions Liability Coverage, which provides up to $100,000 in protection for damages arising from errors, mistakes, or misdelivery in florist services. The additional premium is $125 per policy.
