AmTrust Seeks Workers’ Comp Rate Increase in Maryland

Security National Insurance Company and seven affiliates — including AmTrust Insurance Company, Technology Insurance Company, Wesco Insurance Company, and Sequoia Insurance Company — have filed a rate revision in Maryland for their Workers’ Compensation (TOI 16.0) programs, effective January 1, 2026, for both new and renewal business.

The group, which adopts NCCI loss costs, rates, and rules with select exceptions, is requesting an overall 11.4% rate increase. Notably, Security National Insurance Company and AmTrust Insurance Company each report an indicated change of +18.4%, reflecting adjustments in Loss Cost Multipliers (LCMs). Sequoia Insurance Company is introducing a new Premier tier with an LCM of 1.08.

The filing impacts 787 policyholders for Security National ($2.75M written premium; +$303,953 change) and 152 policyholders for AmTrust ($1.34M written premium; +$200,557 change). Canary Consulting, Inc. submitted the filing on behalf of all eight companies.

Payment processing incentives include a $10 installment fee, reduced to $3 for Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) users.
