Amica Property and Casualty Insurance Company and Amica Mutual Insurance Company, both part of Amica Mutual Insurance Group, have submitted a filing in Texas to revise their Private Passenger Auto underwriting guidelines, effective March 1, 2026, for both new and renewal business. The update replaces the previous version effective February 1, 2022, and introduces a refreshed “Statement of Underwriting Principles” outlining acceptance criteria and renewal standards.
The revisions specify that applicants for placement with Amica Mutual must either meet certain prior coverage requirements or hold an ACES Score of 940 or higher. The ACES Score, Amica’s proprietary credit-based metric, is now a key component in underwriting decisions. The guidelines also define renewal eligibility based on major and minor traffic violations, at-fault and not-at-fault losses, and three-year experience history.
As direct writers, Amica’s companies do not accept business through agents or brokers; all transactions are conducted via licensed representatives in branch offices and service centers. The filing does not include rate changes or reinsurance modifications and remains under state review.
