The Hartford has introduced an update to its Commercial Lines Total Account Billing System (TABS) in Virginia, with the filing submitted on March 24, 2026 and currently under review.
Originally introduced in 1984, TABS has long served as The Hartford’s direct billing platform for commercial lines, allowing installment payments and consolidating multiple policies into a single account. It has supported payment methods ranging from mailed checks and bank withdrawals to agent-assisted transactions, while also giving producers flexibility in how billing is managed.
Starting June 1, 2026, the system will allow commercial policyholders to enroll in automatic recurring charges or withdrawals using a designated credit or debit card on a day of the month selected by the insured.
Strategically, the update shows how The Hartford is modernizing a longstanding billing system without changing rates, using billing capabilities to reduce friction, improve retention, and support more predictable cash flow.
