The Hartford is revising its personal auto program in Texas to remove major non-DUI violations as a rating factor.
Under the current structure, a single major non-DUI violation can increase the applicable rating factor by 45.8%, while five or more violations can produce a factor as high as 3.023. The insurer is withdrawing this rating table but may continue considering the violations for underwriting purposes.
The filing also updates several rules governing driver and policy incidents, the Years Clean Discount, and Accident Forgiveness. Incidents considered under the revised rules include at-fault and not-at-fault accidents, permissive-use accidents, and comprehensive losses exceeding $1,000.
The changes have no overall rate impact. If accepted, they will apply to new policies beginning August 6, 2026, and renewals beginning October 21, 2026.
