The Hartford submitted a filing in Connecticut updating its list of vehicles that are ineligible for coverage under its personal auto program, effective July 30, 2026.
The filing updates underwriting guidelines for what the insurer considers “unacceptable vehicles” due to factors such as high performance, high value, limited production, higher loss potential, or safety concerns. The filing does not include rate changes and does not impact existing policyholders.
The revised list includes a range of luxury, exotic, performance, and electric vehicles, including:
- Tesla Model S, Model X, Cybertruck, and Roadster
- Most Lucid models
- Porsche 911 Turbo, GT2, GT3, and Taycan Turbo models
- Mercedes AMG and Maybach models
- Rivian models outside select trims
- Corvette Z06 and E-Ray models
- Dodge Hellcat models
- Ford Mustang GTD
- GMC Hummer EV 3X models
- Cadillac Celestiq
- Ferrari, Lamborghini, McLaren, Bentley, Rolls Royce, Aston Martin, and Bugatti vehicles.
The guidelines also state that vehicles valued above $150,000, fully autonomous vehicles, customized vehicles, kit cars, and vehicles used for racing or off road purposes are generally ineligible for coverage.
The filing applies to several Hartford group insurers, including Trumbull Insurance Company, Sentinel Insurance Company, Hartford Casualty Insurance Company, Hartford Fire Insurance Company, Pacific Insurance Company, and Nutmeg Insurance Company.
