National General, part of Allstate, is withdrawing three California private passenger auto programs as it exits the state’s personal auto market under certain entities.
Filings submitted to the California Department of Insurance on May 26, 2026, show the company plans to withdraw its “Terminated Accounts,” “GM Product Buyers,” and “California RV Association” programs, with nonrenewals beginning January 1, 2027, and final policy expirations by December 31, 2027.
The filings state that National General Insurance Company is withdrawing its certificate of authority for private passenger automobile business in California under these programs. As of March 31, 2026, the programs had a combined 1,469 in-force policies, including 385 policies in the Terminated Accounts program, 715 in the GM Product Buyers program, and 369 in the California RV Association program.
National General also agreed not to file replacement programs for at least three years following the withdrawals.
While the filings describe the moves as program withdrawals, customer notices included in the submissions indicate policyholders may be transitioned to affiliated National General carriers. Personal auto customers may be offered coverage through Integon Preferred Insurance Company, while RV policyholders may be directed to National General Assurance Company.
Customer communications state that National General “no longer offers this program in California” but encourage policyholders to continue coverage with other National General entities.
