Hartford filed for a 6% overall rate increase to its Texas homeowners insurance program, with changes scheduled to take effect on July 9, 2026, for new business and September 22, 2026, for renewals. The filing was submitted on June 4 and remains under review.
The filing affects approximately 4,045 policyholders and $16.2 million in written premium. Hartford estimates the proposed changes would generate about $965,000 in additional premium. Individual policy impacts may vary, with rate changes ranging from 0% to 21.1%.
According to the actuarial memorandum, the increase is driven by projected loss costs, catastrophe exposure, hail and wildfire losses, loss adjustment expenses, reinsurance costs, and underwriting expenses. Hartford indicated that its building forms support a 6% increase, while condo forms showed a 55.4% indicated increase and tenant forms a -17.1% indication. The company is proposing an 18.7% increase for condo policies and no change for tenant policies.
The filing also includes revised base rates and updated rating tables for homeowners, renters, and condo products.
