Hartford Files D&O Updates In North Carolina

Twin City Fire Insurance Company, a subsidiary of The Hartford, filed updates to its Directors and Officers Premier Defense Policy 2.0 in North Carolina on January 22, 2026. The filing applies to new business and renewals on an on-approval basis and introduces several new optional policy forms.

The changes include a new Crisis Management Endorsement, which establishes a dedicated crisis management fund to cover costs associated with retaining public relations or law firms following defined crisis events. Covered triggers include situations such as negative earnings announcements, product recalls, mass torts, financial restatements, or the loss of key intellectual property.

The filing also revises the Entity v. Insured exclusion, clarifying that the exclusion will not apply if the insured individual has not served in the relevant insured capacity for at least two years. In addition, the policy updates introduce restrictions on coverage for claims brought in non common law jurisdictions outside the United States.

The updated forms reference the Standard & Poor’s Composite Index in defining what constitutes a “Material Effect,” adding an external benchmark to certain coverage determinations.
