Spinnaker Insurance Company introduced a new renters liability insurance program in Idaho through Millennial Specialty Insurance, targeting tenants of leased or rented residential properties. The filing is a resubmission of an earlier proposal and carries a requested effective date of July 1, 2026 for new business.
The program provides liability protection for renters at properties owned or managed by a group policyholder, such as a landlord or property manager. Coverage is issued through group certificates, with all certificate holders under a group policy carrying the same liability limits.
Spinnaker said the program is largely based on an approved renters liability program from Technology Insurance Company, including matching liability limits, personal property limits, deductibles, and optional endorsement pricing.
The filing also adds several optional endorsements adopted from Sutton National Insurance, including:
- Forcible entry theft coverage
- Limited bed bug remediation
- Refrigerated property coverage
- Water backup and sump overflow coverage
A biohazard clean-up endorsement will be attached as a mandatory endorsement with no additional premium.
The policy is designed specifically for on-premises liability exposure. The certificate form states there is “no liability coverage for incidents occurring off the insured location.”
Optional endorsements include:
- Limited personal property coverage
- Pet damage coverage
- Animal liability special limits
- Monthly term certificates
- Lessor placed certificates
- Limited fungi, wet or dry rot, or bacteria coverage
The filing also updates installment billing rules. Spinnaker increased installment fees to $4 due to higher payment processing costs and removed the down payment option so insureds can pay through twelve equal installments.
