Spinnaker has refiled changes to a Texas personal auto program administered by In The Car, LLC, formerly Alset Insurance Services.
The program dates back to 2022, when Alset described itself as a connected-auto platform targeting automakers, dealers and car-as-a-service providers. Its initial filing with Incline Casualty was withdrawn one day after submission. Alset refiled with Redpoint County Mutual the following day, and the program was approved in November 2022. Spinnaker has since replaced Redpoint as the carrier.
As a side note, Redpoint reported $1.37 million in direct written premium through Alset in 2025.

The latest filing introduces two underwriting tiers.
Essential targets drivers with more than one at-fault accident in the past 60 months, no proof of prior insurance or a lapse in coverage. It includes towing and labor coverage but doubles the physical-damage deductible for losses occurring during the first 30 days of the policy.
Premier is designed for drivers with no more than one at-fault accident in the past 24 months, proof of prior insurance and no lapse in coverage. Benefits include OEM parts for vehicles four model years old or newer, glass coverage, up to $500 for lost keys and lock services, and up to $2,500 for pets injured in a collision. The lock and pet benefits carry no deductible.
The program is also adding Connected Car, an optional telematics feature that provides an enrollment discount in exchange for data such as location, mileage, speed, braking, acceleration and time of day. Driving behavior may affect renewal pricing, while the data may also be used for claims investigations, underwriting and product development—and disclosed in response to a subpoena.
Other revisions include exclusions for ridesharing, peer-to-peer car sharing, punitive damages and diminished value; secondary coverage for non-owned vehicles; and a 48-hour waiting period for rental-car benefits following a theft. Limited Mexico coverage extends up to 25 miles beyond the US border for trips lasting no more than 10 days.
The notable provisions are the doubled deductible during the first 30 days, the use of telematics data beyond pricing and the insurer’s ability to modify or terminate participation in the Connected Car program.
