AMCO Insurance Company, part of Nationwide, filed a homeowners enhancement in North Carolina that increases the premium for optional equipment breakdown coverage, with a requested effective date of July 10, 2026, for renewals.
The filing raises the flat annual premium from $29 to $45 per dwelling, a 55.2% increase affecting 27 policyholders. The change reflects deteriorating loss experience, inflation, supply chain pressures, and the need to improve premium adequacy for the endorsement.
The optional coverage provides up to $50,000 per occurrence for mechanical, electrical, electronic, or pressure system failures that are typically excluded under standard homeowners coverage. The endorsement includes a $500 deductible, environmental upgrade benefits of up to 125% of equipment value, and up to $3,000 for green-related expenses.
Nationwide indicated the increase is intended to maintain the long-term viability of the coverage as loss experience develops.
