IAIC Files Pets Best Rate Increase in Nevada

Independence American Insurance Company (IAIC) has filed for a 36.8% average rate increase in Nevada for its Pets Best 2.0 Pet Health Insurance Program, effective April 2, 2026 for both new and renewal business.

The filing, submitted on February 17, 2026, includes updates to medical base rates and coinsurance/limit factors, along with the introduction of a Promotional Offers Amendatory Endorsement. The endorsement formally allows the company and its agents to provide promotional items, partner referral incentives, and value-added services in compliance with state law.

The proposed adjustment is expected to raise statewide written premium by $1.16 million across 6,459 policies, increasing total program premium to approximately $3.14 million. Per the rate impact schedule, most Nevada policyholders (over 49%) can expect increases between 50%–55%, while about 45% fall within the 15%–20% range.

This follows a 7.1% rate increase approved last year (effective June 2, 2025), marking IAIC’s second consecutive annual rate hike for the Pets Best product since assuming the program from APIC.

The Pets Best 2.0 program offers comprehensive and wellness options for dogs and cats, with flexible coinsurance (10%, 20%, or 30%), annual deductibles ($50–$1,000), and benefit limits ($2,500 to no limit). Discounts remain capped at 12% and include partner, affinity, military, and multi-pet programs.
